This season, ASC Training Center is launching the Peak Performance Capital Campaign, a focused investment in critical infrastructure that directly supports our athletes and community. Phase 1 of this campaign addresses three essential needs:
Paving the historic biathlon range paving to include a ‘lollipop’ loop creating a space for dryland training
Dirt work and reshaping of the jump hill to support future airbag training to build athlete progression
Training Center improvements that enhance daily operations and athlete training space
These improvements will be the foundation of the ASC Training Center. They will improve access for athletes of all ages, and ensure our facilities can support local summer training opportunities and community programs for decades to come.
READ MORE ABOUT THE ASC TRAINING CENTER STORY:
It started with a road…..
Nearly 100 years ago, a small group of visionaries believed something radical for their time: that access to the mountains should not be limited to a few—but open to all.
In the early days of Auburn Ski Club, winter access didn’t exist. When snow fell, the mountains were effectively closed. Rather than accept that barrier, ASC’s founders took action.
For several winters, Auburn Ski Club members shoveled the road open, but that was painstaking work, so in the 1930s they tried a new tactic.
They successfully petitioned the State of California to plow Highway 40 through the winter—opening a path not just for skiing, but for opportunity.
That single act changed everything.
It wasn’t about convenience.
It was about access.
From the very beginning, Auburn Ski Club was built by people willing to remove barriers so others could experience the mountains.
When Highway 40 stayed open in winter, something powerful happened.
Athletes came.
Families followed.
A community formed.
What started as a bold idea grew into structured programs, volunteer coaches, and generations of athletes learning confidence, resilience, and teamwork on snow. Auburn Ski Club became more than a ski organization—it became a gateway.
What Grew From This Access:
This access created opportunity for more kids to pursue snow sports.
As participation grew, so did the understanding that access must be protected.
It became clear that Auburn Ski Club needed a scholarship portfolio in order to further the opportunities we provided.
Scholarships became a core part of Auburn Ski Club’s commitment, ensuring that financial barriers would never close the door that access had opened.
Today, we stand at a crossroads
To continue providing access to the mountains—and to ensure safe, sustainable, year-round training—we must invest in the foundation that makes our mission possible.
That is why Auburn Ski Club is launching Peak Performance: a capital campaign focused on strengthening the ASC Training Center for today’s athletes and those still to come.
This effort is not about changing who we are.
It is about honoring our mission of providing affordable year-round mountain sport experiences through programs, events, and facilities for snow sport enthusiasts.
Peak Performance invests in the facilities that will be the foundation that allow athletes to train safely, progress confidently, and remain connected to the mountains year-round.
Paving the historic biathlon range and expanding it into a connected “lollipop” loop
This creates a durable training surface for dryland training creating a circulation loop for summer conditioning.
Dirt work and reshaping of the jump hill
These improvements lay the groundwork for future airbag training, supporting athlete progression and skill development across disciplines.
Training Center facility improvements
Upgrades that enhance daily operations and athlete training spaces—making the Training Center more functional, accessible, and welcoming for everyone who uses it.
We are investing in paving, training surfaces, and facilities that allow athletes to train safely, progress confidently, and remain connected to the mountains year-round.
We invite you to make a donation to Peak Performance today and help carry our legacy forward—for the athletes training now and for those still to come.
