ABOUT ASC NORDIC TRAINING CENTER
ASC Nordic Trails – The 27km cross-country ski trail system at ASC Training Center is open to everyone on a non-profit basis. Our mission is to provide an affordable experience that blends athletes, junior teams, families and recreational skiers in a shared passion for snow sports. Our snow surface is always groomed to competition standards, and with wide overlapping loops skiers of all abilities have terrain options while staying within 5km from the lodge.
At 7,200 feet elevation on Donner Summit in Northern California, our season is the longest in the Sierras. We’re on stand-by and ready to open as early as Mother Nature allows by snowmobile grooming on inches of snow. And we have the ability to stay open late into spring with a state-of-the-art Pisten Bully 400 Vario tracksetters. Athletes, teams and competitions drive what we do at ASC and that sets our calendar and operating hours apart from everyone else.
Nordic Night Skiing – In 2023-24 we expanded to 2 kilometers of LED night skiing. Our community of Nordic skiers and team athletes can ski, train, and even race after school or work 3 nights a week. Cross-country skiing at night is very unique and a special experience not to be missed!
Nordic Trail Report – The Auburn Ski Club (ASC) trail report is updated only when conditions change our expected hours of operation. In the absence of an update, conditions remain consistent with the most recent report. Please be advised that competitive events may restrict trail access; members and guests are encouraged to consult the trail report and/or our trail calendar (below) in advance.
Storm Closures – Adverse weather conditions or closures on Interstate 80 may necessitate the suspension of operations with limited notice. In such instances, season pass holders will be notified via text message within two (2) hours of an official closure announcement. To ensure receipt of notifications, please provide your current cellular telephone number at the time of pass purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions
ARE SNOWSHOES ALLOWED ON THE TRAILS?
Yes, snowshoes are welcome. To maintain the snow surface for training athletes, we ask that you stay to the edge of the groomed surface.
CAN I BRING MY DOG?
While we love our furry friends, dogs and fast training athletes don’t mix. Pets are NOT allowed on the property. Service dogs are the exception.
ARE THE TRAILS OPEN ON RACE DAYS?
Trails are not open on race days but will open when races finish, usually early afternoon. Volunteering on race days and skiing after the races conclude are great ways to give back to the sport and the ASC legacy
IS THERE A PLACE TO WAX MY SKIS?
No. The Training Center will not offer any indoor waxing facilities this season.
CAN WE GO SLEDDING AT ASC?
No. However, our neighbors at Boreal Mountain have a great tubing hill right next door
