A Fourth of July
Tradition in Truckee

The Firecracker Mile is a Fourth of July tradition in Truckee, bringing runners and walkers of all ages and abilities together for a festive, slightly downhill one-mile race before the Independence Day parade. The route follows Donner Pass Road from the start near US Bank toward the finish beside the downtown train depot.

Whether you are chasing a fast time or looking for a fun way to start the holiday with family and friends, the event offers a chance to take part in the celebration while supporting local athletes. Spectators along the parade route make for a lively run through town.

Proceeds support ASC athlete scholarship funds, helping reduce financial barriers to participation in mountain sports. Registration details, packet pickup arrangements, wave times, and pricing for the next edition will be added once confirmed by ASC.

We are thrilled to host the Firecracker Mile once again this year. It's a fantastic way for the community to come together, celebrate our nation's independence, and support a worthy cause like the ASC Training Center scholarship funds.

Every Mile
Funds a Future

By participating, runners contribute to the growth and development of aspiring athletes in the Truckee community. Proceeds flow through the ASC Legacy Foundation to junior athletes across Alpine, Biathlon, Nordic, and Snowboard — reducing the financial barriers to mountain sports.

Those scholarship funds give young athletes the chance to pursue their dreams in winter sports — to train, compete, and grow alongside their peers. Every runner who lines up on the Fourth of July is part of making that opportunity possible.
