U14

Athletes participate in activities that lead to successful skiing and racing as the winter approaches. We will hike to the summits of mountains, roller ski, mountain bike, and Nordic bound to build ski-specific strength. Once the snow falls, training sessions switch to on-snow workouts designed to maximize each athlete's potential. Coaches provide race day waxing and pre-race advice to the athlete to help them to perform at the highest level. We'll have the opportunity to train with other regional ski clubs and build friendships and good-natured rivalries with fellow skiers. Experienced coaches educate the athletes in physiology relevant to skiing, give technique instruction for efficient movement on snow, and help athletes achieve their personal skiing goals.

ALPINE PROGRAM ATHLETES WELCOME come get some dryland training in a fun and challenging atmosphere. We have summer only options to keep you fit and ready for ski season! The training program will skew toward nordic skills, but the skills and fitness will transfer over nicely to downhill skills too. We're even exploring a ski meister program in the winter for kids to do both alpine and nordic.

Training Locations

Our Training Sessions bounce around various locations in the Truckee/Tahoe Area.

Our athletes rise to the top of the Far West Division and do extremely well regionally and nationally at the highest competition levels. We consistently qualify more athletes for the Far West Junior National team than any other regional program.

Our mission as a non-profit training facility is to keep costs affordable for our athletes. In 2018, we celebrated our 90th year of winter sports excellence. We’ve been raising champions at Auburn Ski Club since 1928!

ASC Training Center hosts four of the major Far West Nordic qualifying races each season on the Comp/Devo Team’s home trails: Tahoe Mtn. Sports Holiday Sprints, Paco’s Fun Freestyle, Snowshoe Thompson Classic, and the President’s Cup Freestyle, as well as several major Biathlon competitions. Our 25+km trail system features FIS-homologated 5km, 2.5km and 1.2km courses.

As the top training and racing venue in the western U.S., we have hosted the XC Junior Nationals four times, the USSA Supertour twice, the NCAA Nationals, and the US Biathlon Nationals. Our location on Donner Summit also means our teams are the first ones on the snow at the beginning of the season and the last ones off in the Spring!

Nordic Night Skiing Takes Its Next Step:

By Gus Johnson 10/21/2021, 2:00pm PDT

first light poles for lighted night skiing arrive

Special delivery! The first 3 light poles for XC night skiing are here. We’ll be testing out these 40ft. poles this season to see how they do in the epic Sierra snowfall. Next year, when we put a bunch of these out on the trails, you (your family or business) will be able to sponsor your very own light pole with a plaque and contribute to a lasting legacy to provide athletes access to snow sports.

ASC is in the planning stages to install high intensity LED lighting on 2.5km of XC trail with plans for another 3km in the future. . For this season ASC will be lighting 1.5km of trail with temporary lights for 4 weeks beginning mid-December.  Regular trail passes will be good for night skiing this season.

Calling for SNS combi boot donations:

By Gus Johnson 10/21/2021, 1:45pm PDT

Due to the ongoing supply chain management issues, ASC will likely be waiting on the order we placed in April 2021 for combi boots for our junior program rentals in the Sonics program. We have a small stock of skis from our old inventory we'll be using to supply our returning families in the Sonics program, but are asking for donations of SNS binding combi-boots to help us fill in the gaps and match kids with appropriately fitting gear. Check your garage and help us get more kids on snow.

SNS system boots are being phased out, so now's a great time to support the program until we get our new NNN/Prolink order.

The sliders program equipment is fully stocked and can accommodate the program signups.
